Abstract

This article, which is based on methodological procedures of Sociolinguistics and contemporary Geolinguistics, aims principally to present the Linguistic Atlas Project of Northern Mato Grosso and show the record of semantic-lexical variations brought by distinct groups of migrants to the North of Mato Grosso. The results of this research show us that there exists a huge linguistic diversity in this geographical space in analysis. The extra-linguistic factors stand out as the main responsible for this diversification, principally the geographical origins, the dialectal contact between migrants and schooling time. We understand that the study of this diversity as well as the working up of a linguistic atlas in this region of the country which integrates the Legal Amazon, may contribute with the recognition of the socio and linguistic differences that may lead to a new attitude in school concerning the native language teaching and the treatment of diversities.
