The analyses are an attempt to understand the images, nonverbal texts and colors of the Military Police of Santa Catarina – PMSC. The aim is to show that study what the institution represents throughout your communicative complexity of symbols. Through a bibliographical research this study aims to demonstrate that the PMSC works with historical and cultural images (own signs). Thus, research allows to showing that the symbols of the PMSC are securely linked to their historical process, and the semiotic of each of them reproduce in some way to a historical fact. Added to other resources of the semiotics, distinct elements present in the slogan, uniforms and even in the pátrios adjectives characteristic of Santa Catarina present instruments that allow to connect to the concepts of object, sign and representative.
