Abstract

Chiara Lubich (1920-2008) is one of the most outstanding female figures of the Italian 20th century, but her influence was not left by Italian borders, since her charism (unity) opened up to the world. The Focolare Movement that founded joined people from every country that exists today, giving it an international, multicultural and multilingual character. With particular relevance to Linguistics, especially Comparative Linguistics and Latin Linguistics, her intervention was mainly carried out through the word, communicated orally and in writing in Italian, with translations in many languages. We seek, through some of her written texts, to understand the linguistic images (constructed with stylistic resources, and comparations and metaphors) that she presented to explain her message (the charism) in a simple way to anyone. It is highlighted here, above all, the images that she used to explain the concept of "unity" and we concluded that the singular "unity" is presented as a plural. We called this pedagogical-linguistic resource of Chiara Lubich "unitary composition", revealing itself as a plurality of the singular.
