Abstract

This work analyzes the discourse on academic education and motherhood of students in the area of ​​Language and Literature at a federal public university in Northern Brazil. For that, it mobilizes analysis categories of tensive semiotic theory, more precisely the semantics at the discursive level, to analyze themes and figures that emerge in women's narratives about the meaning of University education. Furthermore, anchored in intersectional debates about women, class and race, it discusses the various factors that impact female participation in the so-called public space. Women, in the diversity of their family arrangement, are included in learning spaces, although they still experience situations of exclusion. In their speeches, the themes of difficulty and resistance are recurrent, pointing to more challenging educational pathways for students who experience motherhood, work and universtity education simultaneously.
