Abstract

This article aims to discuss the use of the body as a means of aesthetic and political performance by three Brazilian video artists. I the political statement in the work of Letícia Parente during the Brazilian military dictatorship (1964-1985). Then, I discuss the work of Analívia Cordeiro, who establishes an interface amongst technology, dance and the women’s body. Finally, I draw my attention to the performatic work of Otávio Donasci’s “videocriaturas”, individuals who are part-men-part-video cyborgs.
