MORPHOMETRIC STUDY IN A MIDDLE SEGMENT COURSE OF PACOTI RIVER-BASIN, CEARÁ STATE

Abstract

This article aims to apply morphometric parameters in a middle segment course of the river basin Pacoti, dedicated to the understanding of the hydro-geomorphologic processes. From a methodological point of view, it was determined the following parameters: fluvial hierarchy, maintenance coefficient (Cm), extension of the surface route (Eps), drainage density (Dd), rivers density (Dh), circularity index (Ic) , compactness coefficient (Kc) and the sinuosity index (Is). To this end, it resorted to the use of software tools ArcGis 10.1 was obtained a maintenance coefficient 1785 m²/m; an extension of the surface path about 892,8 m; a drainage density 0,56 km/km²; river density of 0.21 rivers/km², roundness index of 0.43; compactness coefficient of 1.50 and sinuosity index of 1.18. In general, there is a significant susceptibility to erosion, low drainage density, low tendency of the channels and low susceptibility to flooding basin.
