Abstract

It is notorious that to understand the Brazilian agrarian space, a brief conceptualization is needed from its historical context and the struggle for land through search for agrarian reform in the settlements. In this approach, we highlight the importance of Agroecology to guarantee the social reproduction and food security of peasant families and also give visibility to gender relations in the countryside. This study aims to understand the importance of women's work in Agroecology and in the struggle for land in agrarian reform settlements. We listed as a central question: How do peasant women participate in Agroecology and what is the importance of their autonomy in the peasant family productive unit? And which spaces do they work? The methodological procedures are based on the method of systematic literature review, proposing a critical and comparative analysis through a survey of the literature in the three databases selected based on the exclusion and inclusion criteria. The time frame of the study is from 2008 to 2018. The results and discussions highlight the importance of rural women as protagonists in agroecological productions in the settlements, and the autonomy of women to participate in multiple ways in different sectors of work and activities in the countryside. Therefore, they are fundamental in the struggle for land, in both labor visibility and in public policies for peasant agriculture.
