ESPACIALIDADE: CULTURA E DEVOÇÃO EM RIO GRANDE-RS-BRASIL

The present geographical topic approaches the reflection about the spatiality and its relation to the religion in Rio Grande. This understanding about the devotional spatiality is intermediated by the symbolic that is present in the performance of the rio-grandinos religious practitioners, and aims the reflection about the sacred events, in research on Geography Cultural. The study also presents as an aim to propose the use of these events as an empirical contribution in the analysis on Geography. In this sense, the observation still consists in the geographic dialogue, ruling, in the theoretical attributions of Eric Dardel (1899-1967) and Paul Claval (1932- ), among others. Then, the research is justified on the geographic science by sharpen the debate about the affinity of man with the environment, emphasizing the culture in the form of interpreting the interactions of the “Entity” with the space and with the religious symbolic in the places.
