Integral Education: The Challenges For Building A Solid Base In Promoting Access To Work And Integral Development In Brazil

The present reflection, based on a bibliographic and exploratory research, seeks to verify the existence of a direct relationship between education and employability, if education for labor produces development, and what kind of development and, finally, if the model of Education adopted by Brazil, and advocated by international organizations, is effective to promote the integral development. This paper presents statistical data based on national and international instruments that demonstrate the correlation between education, labor and development, and how changes resulting from social and labor market needs require changes in the concept and objectives of education. It concludes by the fundamental importance of education for labor and for integral development, but stresses that the challenge to transform instrumental education into integral education, based on the need to learn to know, learn to do, learn to live together and learn to be, are still significant.
