This work aims to analyse the role of use experience in building rhotic’s interfonology in brazilian portuguese and spanish as additional language. The question-problem is: how use experience influences the building of rhotics’ interfonology between PB and ELA? Our hypothesis basis is that the longer the informant has contact with the studied language the more he withdraws from his mother language’s influence. This research is based upon theories of multirepresentational phonological models: Phonology and language use (BYBBE, 2001) and Exemplar dynamics: word, frequency, lenition and contrast (PIERREHUMBERT, 2001). The methodological approach is quantitative and transversal; its corpus is composed by 770 tokens in which the rhotics appeared in seven different phonotactics contexts and in two experiments. Therefore, it was assumed that use’s experience affects more some contexts than others and that it reflects on interphologic construction.
