EDUCATIONAL ACTIONS IN PRENATAL CARE: EXPERIENCE OF A GROUP OF PREGNANT WOMEN IN PRIMARY CARE
Abstract
Introduction: This is an experience report on the interaction between the health care service and students participating of the Education Program for Health Work (PET)/Cegonha care network, through the establishment of groups with pregnant women in an Integrated Health Unit. Objective: The current article aims to report the activities developed by the health workers and PET students in these groups. Experience Report: The activities had an interdisciplinary approach and involved health workers, tutors, academic monitors (PET Cegonha network) from two undergraduate courses (nutrition and medicine) of Federal University of Paraíba. There were monthly meetings with the pregnant women using active methodologies about topics of their interest, respecting the individuality and subjectivity of each gestational phase of the participants. The activities carried out with the pregnant women and their relatives were mostly related to the pregnancy-puerperal cycle and the baby care. The interdisciplinary nature of the activities encouraged work in team and contributed to a more humanized and multidisciplinary academic training. The groups are very important for knowledge sharing, bond strengthening and education in health, allowing more actions on health promotion. Conclusion: The activities have been improving and tightening the relationships between the professionals, students and the community and, thus, complement the pre-natal care assistance.
