THE INFLUENCE OF NUTRITIONAL CONDITION OF THE PREGNANT IN THE NEWBORN’S HEALTH

Abstract

Objective: Verify the influence of nutritional condition of the pregnant in the newborn’s health. Material and Methods: Retrospective study accomplished in 260 women’s record, of a hospital institution in Porto Alegre/RS, who realized at least a antenatal visits and also accomplished the childbirth in the institution. Socioeconomic characteristics were analyzed ,obstetrical and maternal by the initial descriptive analysis way and application of Kolmogorov-Simornov tests, chi-square and Fisher’s Test, considering the significant value of 5%. Results: It contacted a young population with an age around 29,2 + 3,8 years, constituted of primigravidae women in its majority (49,2%) and multigravidae (49,6%), with education iqual or bigger than eight years (98,1%). It was observed that 62,3% initiated the gestation with a nutritional condition adequate,31,2% with over weight and 6,5% with low weight. The average in total gain weight gestational was 13,27 ± 4,22 Kg. The average to initiate the prenatal service was 12,9 ± 4,22 gestational weeks. In relation to the newborn, 63,5% were born with adequated weight. There was weight statistical association of the born with the maternal height (p = 0,001), prepregnancy weigh (p = 0,001), total gain of gestational weigh (p < 0,001) and number of antenatal visits (p = 0,002). Conclusion: The gestational gain of weigh adequated and the effective prenatal accompaniment demonstrated have an important performance for a good neonatal prognosis.
