Abstract

The studied area is located in Jacarepaguá shoal, Rio de Janeiro state.

The purpose of our work is to contribute to the ichthyological knowledge and the preservation of the Jacarepaguá lagoon complex, because of it's potentiality as a procriation area of many important fish families, with economic value for the native people.

In this paper we studied the following families: Elopidae, Clupeidae, Ariidae, Poeciliidae, Anablepidae, Mugilidae, Atherinidae, Centropomidae, Carangidae, Gerreidae, Sciaenidae, Gobiidae, Cichlidae, Bothidae, Soleidae and Synoglossidae, with their respective genus and species.
