REPRODUÇÃO DO CAMARÃO DE ÁGUA-DOCE MACROBRACHIUM AMAZONICUM DO AÇUDE EPITÁCIO PESSOA, BOQUEIRÃO (PB), BRASIL. PARTE I: CICLO SEXUAL

Resumo

The samples of Macrobrachium amazonicum were collected monthly, from Açude Epitácio Pessoa, Municipality of Boqueirao, State of Paraíba, Brazil (7° 30' S - 36° 08'W). Water temperature and samples of water for determination of dissolved oxygen concentration were taken simultaneously. In the laboratory, the animals were dissected and their gonads were processed as recommended in the routine histological techniques. After microscopic analysis of the ovaries, it was observed that they presented the following stages: immature (I), vitellogenesis (II), mature (III) and spent (IV). Stage II was subdivided into three substages: pre-vitellogenesis (ll-1), vitellogenesis 1 (ll2) and vitellogenesis 2 (II3). From the total number of ovaries from barried females, 14.13% were in stage I; 7 06% in stage II1; 24.45% in stage II2; 13.04% in stage II3; 19.02% in stage III and 22.28% in stage IV. From the total number ofanalyzed ovaries, 14.28% were immature; 8.84% in vitellogenesis; 16 32% in vitellogenesis 2.12.01% in vitellogenesis 3; 29.47% were mature and 19.04% in the spanned stage. The monthly distribution of the ovary stages of all the females showed that the period of greatest reproductive activity was in summer, but all the stages were found throughout the year. The high water temperature, with slight variations, all year seems to influence the process continuous reproduction activity and the pluviometric rate proved to be the exogenous factor that stimulates reproduction. The dissolved oxygen was always close to saturation, and did not interfer with the reproductive activity.
