Resumo

We describe in this paper the Karyotypes of two species of species of rodents found in the Northeastern region of Brazil, belonging to the family Caviidae and collected in the states of Pernambuco and Bahia (Kerodon rupestris (Wied, 1820) 2n=52; Galea spixii, (Wagler, 1831) 2n=64). We show for the first time cytogenetics data about genera Kerodon and we add a new information to genera Galea.
