O freixo perene: ecologia e catástrofe na literatura e no mito nórdico antigo - Evergreen Ash: ecology and catastrophe in Old Norse myth and literature (Christopher Abram)
Abstract
Neste ano de 2019, Christopher Abram, professor associado da Universidade de Notre Dame, lançou o seu livro Evergreen Ash: ecology and catastrophe in Old Norse Myth and Literature, uma obra na qual o autor propõe realizar um estudo inserido no pensamento Ecocrítico, dos mitos e da literatura nórdica, confrontando a documentação pertinente a essa empreitada com conceitos pós-estruturalistas. Um trabalho extenso, que não sendo necessariamente uma proposta inovadora,: o autor realiza um balanço bibliográfico logo em seu primeiro capítulo, relembrando a coletânea organizada por Gillian R. Overing e Marijane Osborn Landscape of Desire: partial stories of the medieval Scandinavian world (Overing; Osborn, 1994), enquanto um trabalho sobre espaços e paisagens que se aproxima de tal proposta além do ensaio de Carl Phelpstead Ecocriticism and Eyrbyggja saga (Phelpstead, 2014), reafirmando-o como o primeiro artigo nessa linha intelectual, escrito vinte anos depois.
