The Death of Odin is a poem written by the English poet, essayist, and historian Robert Southey. The poem narrates Odin's farewell to his family and fellow warriors, while the narrator also reflects on the warrior's end within the context of Norse mythology. In Death of Odin, we find some references to Norse mythology, as well as a euhemeristic discourse about Odin, portraying him as a chieftain of Germanic origin. The following paper consists of a translation of Robert Southey's poem, done directly from English to Portuguese, followed by an analysis of the work.
