Abstract: This text proposes a translation of the poem Gedicht eines Skalden by Heinrich Wilhelm von Gerstenberg, as well as a critical analysis of its thematic content. We seek to demonstrate how the interest of intellectuals of Danish and German origin during the second half of the 17th century was linked to aesthetic and cultural references surrounding Norse Mythology. Our main methodological framework is reception, especially the publications of Margaret Clunies Ross.
