Abstract

The lean production system is based mainly in participatory techniques. This model takes into its configuration, at least theoretically, a disruption with the mass production system. Some authors think that the lean production is even more harmful that the mass production, since it brings in its genesis a concealment of insecurity of the system. Under these different hypothesis identified in the current literature, this study has the objective of analyzing the impacts of the lean production on the workers health, through their own perception. Therefore, a study was conducted in a company that was implementing several of the elements of the lean production, as: kanban, kaisen and cell manufacturing. The results of this study point out that despite workers had showed slightly preferences for this kind of work organization, the lean production system intensified the rhythm of work.
