Abstract

The MST it’s a Brazilian landless country laborers movement has been performed many political actions in many ways with the purpose of legitimizing its social role. One of those means has been the settlement of landless agricultural laborers. Workers have been organized in cooperatives and associations looking for reciprocal characters in their forms of production and commercialization. However, the major part of the production (in general raw materials and products in natura with low aggregated value) has been commercialized by brokers who increase prices. This paper presents a briefing of the production and commercialization organization of two enterprises created and managed by rural workers supported by MST. We present a reflection about the challenges of these processes and we suggest several best practices that will contribute to the processes of the settlement of other landless agricultural laborers. These programs constitute additional political options to consolidate practices of reciprocal economy in Brazil and lower the degree of the inequality income distribution.
