Abstract

The domestic workers were, from the beginning of consolidation of social protection to the workers, excluded. Such workers, even those with formal registration, always had a smaller set of rights. The progress in terms of expansion of rights, has been slow. Moreover, the occupation is characterized by high informality, low levels of education and income, with large participation of black women. In this context it is essential to the adoption of public policies that combine reduction of informality with the expansion of the rights of domestic workers.
