ILO AND THE DECENT WORK AGENDA IN BRAZIL

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to give a little contribution to the discussion about the decent work and its deficit in Brazil. After a brief introduction, the article is divided into five sections. First, it examines the ILO’s concept for “decent work” and the public policies agenda for labor market in Latin America. Second, it shows the diversity of methodologies for prize the decent work deficits. Third, it analyses some decent work deficits in Brazilian labor market. Fourth, it presents the federal programs of decent work, their main features and the effectiveness or inefficacy of these programs. Finally, it discusses the importance of public policies driven to fortify the human dignity in labor market and to improve the employment pattern.
