ARGUMENTS TO HISTORIC RACE AUTONOMY

Abstract

This study aims to contribute to the debate on Education for Ethnic and Race Relations, through the argument of historical and political aspects that attribute category race its relevance as a social phenomenon. In this essay, I turn to the authors Hanna Arendt, Ernest Gellner, Franz Boas and Michel Banton, to signal the race as autonomous analytical category, given that Law No. 12,711 / 12, quota law in the federal public education institutions, is a legislation that meets the social criteria, and leaves subsumed race as a criterion adopted as public policy of access to federal public education.
