Abstract

The changes that have taken place in the world of work –especially the presence of a significant fraction of the working class that is outside the wage relationship- have opened a series of questions about the role of unionism in the representation of this sector. In this framework, this article analyzes the representation strategies carried out by the Brick Workers Union of the Argentine Republic to represent both salaried and non-salaried workers, in the period 2013-2019. We propose that the articulation of both subjects of representation bases on two dimensions that are transversal to the activity: territoriality and family. This article recovers in-depth interviews carried out with members of the UOLRA national leadership, delegates and workers from factory and family production units in the provinces of Buenos Aires, Entre Ríos and Córdoba.
