Abstract

This research analyze occupational accidents in Brazil between 2008-2017, identifying the profile of injured workers regarding the type of accident, sex and age, in addition to the branches of economic activity and regions that cause more serious cases. It is a time series study with data from Social Security yearbooks. There were few accidents, typical and occupational diseases in the period. Display accidents on the other hand increase. The profile of workers who suffer the most accidents is male, aged between 20 and 39 years old, who works in the manufacturing sector and lives in the Southeast. However, the increase in the representativeness of women and people aged 50 or over in accident records may indicate changes in this profile for the coming years. Therefore, these findings determine which preventive measures should be focused on female workers and those over 50 years old.
