Abstract

This paper analyzes the impact of the quota law for admission to higher education on labour market indicators based on a sample survey of graduates from undergraduate courses at the Federal University of Sergipe between 01/07/2020 and 02/05/2020. The sample received statistical treatment to circumvent non-response bias and the methodology employed considers the non-experimental context of the data. The results of the analyses indicate that the quotas increase the participation of beneficiaries in the economically active population and the chance of being unemployed, vis a vis the situation of their peers with broad competition. There are no significant effects observed in the indicators of occupation, work in the field of study and stability of the bond. As for labour income, quantile regressions show that quota holders do worse in the upper income percentiles, with a salary disadvantage of around 25%.
