Anthropologies of Teaching and Learning
The purpose of this dossier is to bring together works produced in the Brazilian scenario and elsewhere, with the aim of disseminating unprecedented investigations and reflections on the anthropology of teaching and learning. In this sense, what is sought is not to operate in the exclusive register of pedagogies in anthropology, but rather to expand its horizon to question situations in which teaching and learning are the objects of research. What is being taught and learned, and how, will be established by each authorx, highlighting multiple possibilities for interactions, profiles of agents involved, challenges, successes, (re)assessments of agencies, frustrations and dramas, about the goals sought by teachers and students, privileged interlocutors in the research presented here. It is worth mentioning that the articles will deal with pedagogical environments crossed by the radical changes of the Covid-19 pandemic, in aspects still to be known and debugged, in geographical scenarios that present similarities and differences in ritualizations and redefinitions of existential school procedures and the like. Class, gender, sexuality, generation, corporality, time, race, ethnicity, ideological markers will certainly be central beacons in the articles present in the dossier, which will seek to leave epistemological comfort places about perspectives of educational success and failure, projects, hopes, strategies, understandings of what classes are, xs teachers and xs students, in addition to teaching and learning institutions. The dossier will also register ethnographic efforts, but not only, to analyze impacts on the uses and understandings, limits, misunderstandings, of devices, platforms and other resources of communication technologies, increasingly present in educational life, both of teachers and of students, valued as mediators of content and relationships. Such situations have been observed in a more radical way in the distance learning modality, but also influencing face-to-face teaching. Thus, the dossier will include approaches to human and non-human existence, new configurations of existing through social networks, taking multiverses into account or not, which offer different tools for interactional investment.
Dossier Anthropology and/of Education
We propose, in this dossier, a connection between Anthropology and Education. The interface between these two fields presents numerous possibilities, including the development of an Anthropology of Education. The relationship between Anthropology and Education dates back to the discipline's origin, as teaching and learning processes are fundamental to understanding how culture is produced and circulated. Although this relationship has a long history, it does not mean that there are no tensions involved in this process, especially regarding the appropriation of ethnography by educational research. We welcome submissions that develop an anthropological reflection on the educational field from different perspectives, including classic debates such as studies in preschools, schools, and universities, as well as new reflections that involve diagnoses of children and adults, autoethnography, and minority groups.
