the dual risk of street workers in the face of the pandemic of covid-19

Abstract

Social isolation as a measure in the face of the covid-19 pandemic was, and still is, fundamental for preventing the spread of the virus. However, the recommendation based on the well-known imperative "stay at home", does not include the entire population, much less those who depend on work to survive. In this sense, the purpose of this writing aims to problematize the exposure of the workers informal, with clipping for the street walkers, who depend on the work to obtain an income, and thus live. As a methodological resource, together with theoretical systematization, the observations made in the street trade of the city center of João Pessoa-PB were taken into account, in addition to the monitoring of news by virtual and television media. Under the aegis of a neoliberal government in which individual responsibility for rights is increasingly standardized, it is noticeable the accentuated context of vulnerability that permeates the lives of these workers in the pandemic period.
