Abstract

The game GTA IV, newest version of Grand Theft Auto series for multi-platform, is studied for its representation properties of the communication forms of quotidian transmuted into the simulated reality of the game. We found concepts of the playful field (Johan Huizinga, 1999), as well as contributions about the function of representation of reality by videogames (Jacques Brancher, 2009) from the notion of lifeworld textualization (Luis Nogueira, 2009). Our purpose is to check the possibilities for study about games like GTA IV, as media’s artifacts representation of quotidian realities, such as social spaces, media, socio-cultural contexts and forms of relationships.
