Abstract

This article aims to question and problematize the classic media representation of stepmothers in animations and children's stories, which promote, in their moral, an association of these women with evil. We argue that this type of representation affects the family constructions in Brazilian society, and our main hypothesis for the origin of this problematic representation is the fact that it was built on top of patriarchal values, endorsed by the Christian church, from the time these tales were published. created in the century. XIX. To this end, we will analyze the animations of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and A Gata Cinderella/Cinderella both in their original versions, written by the Brothers Grimm, and their adaptations for animation made by Walt Disney in 1938 and 1950, respectively.
