Abstract

This study presents a brief history of the Luso-Brazilian Orthographic System which will be replaced by the Lusophonic Orthographic Agreement. This Agreement represents an old dream come true: the unification of the Portuguese Language as it is spoken and written in the seven countries which make up the CPLP (the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries): Brasil, Portugal, Angola, Cabo Verde, Guiné-Bissau, Moçambique, São Tomé e Príncipe.
