The city within the city: fear, security and right in society of boundaries

Abstract

The article written has the purpose to reflect on the role boundaries and cleavages in the contemporary city, with particular regard to the rights, to citizens fears and about the urban insecurity. The contemporary city leaves its traditional boundaries to be fixed by relationship networks that influencing the territory: in this process have a key role the characteristics of the boundary (real or symbolic), as the consistence, permeability and its attraction force. We could think the city within city as fracture and division, but also as protection and union, as a tool able to generating rights in a society that is confronting the globalization effects, which made us think - perhaps giving illusion - to an open society and without boundaries.
