WOULD THOMAS KUHN BE A HERMENEUTIC PHILOSOPHER?

Abstract

This article intends to discuss Thomas Kuhn's use of the term hermeneutics in the Anglo-American philosophical scenario and its repercussions. The answer to the question if the MIT philosopher could be a hermeneutic is given in terms of a discussion about two aspects: 1. the hermeneutic-historical trace on the philosophy and history of science and 2. the influence of such moment in the human sciences in relation to the scientific models of the technical and natural sciences, in terms of scientific practice and its relationship with the praxis of life.

Gustavo Silvano Batista, Universidade Federal do Piauí - UFPI

Graduado em Filosofia pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (2004), Mestre em Filosofia pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (2007), Doutor em Filosofia pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (2014), com estágio de pesquisa - doutorado-sanduíche - no Departamento de Arte e Estudos Culturais da Universidade de Copenhague - Dinamarca (2012-2013), com o apoio da CAPES/MEC. É Professor Associado do Departamento de Filosofia da Universidade Federal do Piauí - UFPI. Desde 2013, atua como professor permanente no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Filosofia e desde 2019 no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação. Também é professor do PROF-FILO - UFT. Atualmente é Tutor do PET Filosofia da UFPI.
