ACTIONS DEVELOPED BY THE EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR HEALTH WORK (“CEGONHA” NETWORK) IN THE TIMBÓ I FAMILY HEALTH UNIT / 2012-2013: AN EXPERIENCE REPORT
Abstract
Introduction: The PET “Cegonha”-Network (Education Program for Health Work) of the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), which operates in the scenario of a Family Health Unit (FHU) in João Pessoa-PB, provided a relevant multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary experience among students from different healthcare majors and healthcare professionals. Experience Report: This article reports the experience acquired from the innovative actions that were developed by the group. These actions sought to address the basic healthcare needs of the community, focusing on social and humanistic aspects and on prevention and promotion in healthcare. These actions included the recognition of the territory, work groups with pregnant women, teenagers, childcare providers (parents) and group activities with the professionals themselves, with the purpose of assessing the work process in this FHU. The PET “Cegonha”-Network is a tool to strengthen the teaching-service-community integration that contributed to qualifying the students as well as the healthcare professionals involved. Its versatile performance enabled the construction of collective and potential alternatives to offer healthcare to women and children in a humanized and comprehensive way. That said, this experience report aims to briefly describe the activities developed and to foster self-reflection about this work. DESCRIPTORS Family Health. Health Promotion.
