Abstract

The debate about cultural autonomy in relation to human rights and the global democratic order has been debated in different spheres of decision-making. In this article, we seek to establish a debate between the theory of Margareth Keck and Kathryn Sikkink about activism beyond the physical borders of the national state and the concept of cosmopolitan democracy. What is generated from the relationship of multiculturalism and human rights? Firstly, we establish an exhibition of the literature concerning transnational advocacy networks and their forms of action, guidelines and history. Thereafter, a bibliographic review will be analyzed regarding cosmopolitan democracy as a normative and political model of governance. In order to carry out this work, a bibliographic review was used as a research technique, based on a qualitative and analytical approach.
