Bringing the Administration Professional in Theory and Practice in Administration

Objective: this essay describes the characteristics of the process of production and circulation of managerial knowledge, highlighting the need for attention to the application of knowledge produced. Development: some evidences were raised that indicate the need for the field to turn more to the practical application and to consider the impact of researches on the practice of administration professionals. An analysis was also made about the value of Administration as knowledge that promoted a third revolution in productivity, and I was highlighted the risk of the academics of losing relevance in the practical context. Theoretical impacts: the essay debates the consideration of applications in theoretical construction and in academic research in Administration, suggesting a direction that, as argued, could give more quality and value to the knowledge produced and published. Practical impacts: the essay is aimed at academic administration professionals, with an indication of alternatives for improving their practices as professors and as researchers.
