Abstract

Case context: Júlio, a black person and LGBTQIAP+, recently sworn in as Secretary of Planning and Management of Public Policies of the city hall of Bezerros-PE, a city in the Agreste region of Pernambuco, understands that his role as a manager and citizen is to raise awareness and develop actions for insertion and permanence of minority groups in the world of work. Despite his commitment, he faces some challenges. Case Dilemma: The protagonist of the case finds himself limited in his role as a manager, due to the lack of statistics regarding the reality of work for LGBTQIAP+ people, and the lack of support from important local agents. Soon, Julius wonders how to continue engaging with the cause. Case Closure: The case exposes the need to consider LGBTQIAP+ experiences and their particularities in the world of work, and to use queer analytics as a foundation for the creation and execution of public policies that overcome the heterocisnormative model.
