Disclosing Organizational and Managerial Competences: a Comparative Study on Telecommunications Sector

Abstract

This article aimed to investigate the organizational and managerial competences and organizational learning processes on two corporations of Telecommunications Sector, competing on the market of mobile in Minas Gerais. A comparative, qualitative and quantitative research was conducted, by means of application of questionnaire and interviews to a sample of managers of both organizations. The results show that managerial competences and organizational learning processes are similar on those organizations. It was possible to identify the selective competences, but not the core competences of those organizations. So, we could confirm Ruas (2003) argument that the capacity of core competences of being inimitable, according to judgment of Prahalad and Hamel (1990), is very difficult to be validated on most part of Brazilian organizations. This article is composed by three sections. The first one presents the methodology that was used, the second section refers to the theoretical approach and the final remarks are exposed in the third section.
