Abstract

Stanley Kubrick is considered one of the most influential film directors. Known for his meticulous nature and high level of artistic control, he produced great films on various themes. The paper seeks to demonstrate the accumulation history of Kubrick´s archive in the light of his biography, and to analyze the archive after its transfer to an archival center. Descriptive and qualitative in nature, the article was produced based on a methodology that used bibliographic research and an experience report.  As a result, it pointed out that the accumulation of the archive relates to Kubrick's understanding of its importance to facilitate the director´s work and the execution of his ideas and noted that the archives acquired new uses and meanings after its transfer and treatment by an archives center. The paper concludes that access to the Kubrick archive by the public contributes to the dissemination and preservation of the director's legacy, as well as enabling the archives' potential in education and research.
