Abstract

It approaches the relationships between the during the search procedure information and the Technologies of Information and Communication (TIC's), treated in an interdisciplinary perspective in the context of the Library Science graduation at Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA). It has as objective at in general terms to investigate as the Library Science graduation students accomplish their academic researches, discovering if there is success in the obtained results, focalizing, especially, the access to academic texts, for the reading and textual production of those students, that are in process of professional formation; and, in specific terms: a) to trace the pertinent profile to the behavior of the Library Science graduation students in the use of such technological tools, for the recovery of the information, especially in it refers the use of electronic journals as valiant sources of scientific information; b) to verify the habit of academic reading on the part of the students; c) to collect a considerable amount of scientific newspapers in the area of Library Science of the Information to foment to the reading and aid in the process of information retrieval; and to point the steps for the accomplishment of an Evaluation of Information Sources in the virtual segment with proficiency. They grew the methodological procedures in two stages: in the first phase with the bibliographical research, based in authors as Kuhlthau (1991; 1999; 2004 e 2005), Castells (1999; 2002), Wilson (1997; 1999; 2000 e 2006) and embracing other thinkers' contributions on the thematic approached. In the second stage, it took place an exploratory and descriptive study, of quali-quantitative approach, with questionnaire application containing questions closed, open and hybrid. It was verified that the students presented satisfactory acting in the process of information search. It concludes understanding that the behavior of search of the information and TIC's are component essential in the librarian's formation, above all in a production context and of reproduction of information / texts in digital atmospheres, what appears for the construction of new reading habits based in the use of the available technological resources in the 21st Century.
