READING AND DOING: reading practices of Librarianship's students

Abstract

This work analyse the reading practices of under-graduated students at the Universidade Federal da Paraiba Librarianship course. The research is descriptive with quantitative and qualitative aspects. A semi-structured questionnaire with opened and closed questions was the researching tool applied..Based on the analysis and interpretation it was identifed that the university formation of those future reading promoters is incipient once the subjects studied are not concerned with projects or activities of reading. The students suggested the offering of a practical subject to approach reading, as well as to update the library collection, to motivate dynamic readings to overcome the studentsŽ needs, to promote reading events among other practices.
