ACCESS TO INFORMATION AND PROMOTION OF ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN THE COMLURB’S VISITATION PROGRAM

Abstract

This paper is a product of the graduation course in Librarianship and Documentation at the Universidade Federal Fluminense in 2006. From the concept “organization as information sources” analyze the Companhia Municipal de Limpeza Urbana do Rio de Janeiro (COMLURB) as source of environmental information on solid waste (garbage), through its visitation and benchmarking program called “A COMLURB é carioca”. It points the program’s contribution to the citizen in what it refers to the pro9motion and development of research in several areas, exchange of technical knowledge and projects of environmental education and presents information on the demands and the profile of the taken care of users. It evidences that availability of the access to the information, its dissemination and transference in the organizational environment is extremely important for the interested user and the reach of the objectives of the organization.
