Abstract

The document classification is one step of archival doing. However, it is not an easy activity. Therefore, we start with the following question: the table of classification, temporality, and document destination of public administration’s support-activities archive fulfills and provides all the specific codes according with the administrative affairs of documentation located at Arquivo Central da Reitoria do Instituto Federal de Sergipe Central Archive of Rectorate of Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Sergipe (IFS)? In that context, the proposed aim was: analyze the difficulties found to classify the documents at Central Archive of IFS and the objectives were: describe the theoretical fundamentals and concepts related to classification and document management and describe the importance of document management to the archive operation. The methodology shape: bibliographic and documental reviews, explanation, and description of the found content. Therefore, it was analyzed regarding the use of the classification tool for the development of scholarship holders’ activities, from Librarianship and Documentation, of UFS, during the period of 10 months in 2019, at ARQREI on IFS. At last, it was concluded that difficulties were found, but was possible to comprehend that all the efforts are being made towards effective document management.
