SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION: a study with academical teachers

Abstract

This research analyzes the Library Science Department of the Federal University of Paraiba teacher’s scientific production in the period from 1996 to 2000. The study involves 17 teachers and draws the teacher’s profile as well as their scientific production. It was verified that the teachers’ great part is female, is between 41 and 45 years, assisting teacher, in regime of exclusive dedication and with less than five years in the Institution. A significant result was verified about the scientific production. Most (88%) of the teachers published documents as: books, journal articles, bulletins articles, abstracts, among other similar production. The teachers also produced, in the period, communications that were presented in events such as: Congress, Seminars, Meetings, Workshops, among others. It is ended that the Department’s scientific production is varied and significant and that most of the teachers, besides the qualification also worries in communicating the results of their studies and researches.
