Research that aims to report the interdisciplinary practice of librarians and tourists in educational services, as well as their contributions to the preservation of the memory and cultural heritage of Ludovicense and Maranhão. It is an exploratory research, with a qualitative approach, whose empirical corpus is composed of two tourism professionals and a librarian. He made use of semi-structured interviews to analyze how the services are planned, what are the institution's ambitions in carrying them out, such as expectations, as well as the consequences of Benedito Leite's actions in São Luís and Maranhão. It addresses heritage, heritage education, memory, public libraries using dialogue with authors such as Schneider (2018), Choay (2006), Silveira (2012; 2014), Pollak (1989; 1992), Milanesi (2013), Nora (1993), Almeida Júnior (2013; 1997), Candau (2016), Sousa (2015), Flusser (1983), Cardoso (2013), among others. It finds that Benedito Leite seeks to fulfill its role in society in Maranhão, in addition to the practices and demands common to public libraries. It reinforces that the sensitivity and interdisciplinary performance between the librarian responsible for the direction and the BPBL tourism professionals print in their sectors to plan and carry out the services offered by the institution are fundamental for the missions of public libraries to be carried out.
