Abstract

This article discusses notions of the importance of citizenship for democratic process and as a point of departure uses some well-known authors’ points of view. It deals with the role of media in democracy and its relations with the citizenship, as well as with both its educative role potential and encouragement of the political participation. As a concrete case of encouragement of the citizenship practice and searching for various ways of expression, we present the case of Rede Jovem de Cidadania developed by Brazilian non-governamental organization Associação Imagem comunitária.
