Abstract

This paper is the result of research on the filmic materiality and aims to start an analysis, focusing on Foucault postulates, the series of horror films known in Brazil as Jogos Mortais (Saw). In our analysis, we demonstrate the relationship between the ritual of torture, the way it was described by Michel Foucault, and the scenes ofviolence displayed by the films of that franchise in the cinema. This workdiscusses the extension of a mechanism of power for movies and their modes of action on the subject in theaudiovisual support.
