Luhmann and social networks

This article aimed to scroll through the work of Niklas Luhmann, in particular the theory of the systems developed by the German author, with in order to check the correctness of criticism of him in relation to the understanding of the public sphere and the democratic process. Initially we tried to present the communication model of the German author establishing the main differences compared to traditional models. Then we tried to present the function of these media in Luhmann's perspective. At the end found that the author not only offers the options for expanding the public sphere, created from new technologies, but also presents the role that the media play in this scenario.
