The aim of this paper is to analyze some aspects of antirealist critique of modern science as presented by Hugh Lacey (2008). To do so, first I presented three main arguments: (1) the underdetermination of scientific theories; (2) the invulnerability of the theories to empirical data; (3) the incommensurability between different paradigms. Then, I give two arguments that limit the scope of a critical antirealism, namely: (1) the evidence of the scientific success;(2) the possible complementarity between realism and antirealism. With this move, we seek to suggest a rational measure between the objectivity of expectations inherent any scientific discourse and the philosophical criticism around the status of truth in Science understanding antirealism not as na ontological thesis, but as an autonomous critical practice of scientific materialism.Downloads
