FROM THE STATE OF ROUGHNESS TO THE WORLD OF CULTURE IN THE KANTIAN INTERPRETATION OF HISTORY

Abstract

This article analyzes some aspects of the notion of progress from the writings of Kant dating from the period between 1784 and 1786. It is divided into three points. In the first, it focuses on the transition from roughness to artificial culture or nature, through established norms in history, necessary for the moral progress of mankind. In the second, we have the search for regularity in human history, via the cunning of nature and the constant progress of the species. And, in the third, we have the notion of progress, related to legal and moral advances, indicating man's purpose and human emancipation as the purpose of nature. Thus presenting an interpretation of Kantian history.
